What is on the Curtailment tab?

The Curtailment tab shows who limited the park, how much energy that cost and how available the inverters were. You also record a grid-operator notice here and follow a claim.

Why it matters

Curtailment by the grid operator may be compensated, but only if you can show when, how much and why. The same tab keeps curtailment apart from real outages, so the availability does not drop for the wrong reason. It backs up a claim and tells you whether an availability guarantee was met.

What you see

Tiles at the top

Item What it shows
Limits The number of limits in the setpoint log, Last 7 days
By the grid operator How many of them came from the grid operator or TenneT: May be compensated
Active now Limits that hold At this moment

Who limited the park?

A box about the sources of a limit: the logger's setpoint file, the Withthegrid Teleport or a notice from the grid operator. The Awaiting partner label stays while the Withthegrid link is not live. Sample data is added when rows in the setpoint log come from the simulator.

Curtailment per day

A table with one row per day, newest at the top. The choice next to it picks Last 14 days or Last 31 days.

Column What it shows
Date The day
PV yield (kWh) What the inverters delivered that day. A dash: no data
Curtailed (kWh) The energy curtailment cost that day
Source The source with the most curtailed kWh
Hours price ≤ 0 Hours with a day-ahead price of zero or less
Avg. day-ahead price (€/MWh) The mean day-ahead price of that day

You only see the two price columns if you may see prices. Choosing a row opens that day in the chart below. The export button saves the table as CSV or Excel.

Irradiance and PV power

A chart of one day per quarter-hour: PV power, Irradiance and, hatched above the PV power, Curtailed. Day picks another day. The chart opens on the last day with curtailment, else on today.

Grid operator claim dossiers

This table only appears once the grid operator limited the park in the last 90 days. One row per limit:

Column What it shows
Start and End When the limit held, or Ongoing
Source and Limit Who limited, and to how many kW or what percentage
Lost (kWh) The energy the limit cost
Measured source The share of it that rests on a setpoint read from a source, not on an inference
Value day-ahead The loss at the day-ahead price; only if you may see prices
Status Draft, Submitted, Compensated or Rejected
Date The date of that status
Amount (€) The compensated or claimed amount; only if you may see prices
Dossier PDF and CSV download the dossier. An Admin or Operator also sees Status

Availability and losses

This block has the Model v0 label. The choice next to it picks Last 7 days or Last 14 days.

Item What it shows
Technical availability Curtailment and a commanded stop count as available
Uncorrected availability Only producing counts as available
Effect of curtailment on availability The difference between those two, in percentage points
Contractual availability The technical availability without the exclusions. Below it: the excluded hours
Contractual PR The PR without the quarter-hours an exclusion touches. Below it: PR all quarters
Lower bound The technical availability when time without data counts as downtime
Daylight hours The daylight hours and the hours without data per inverter
Comparable inverters The share of quarter-hours in which the possible power came from comparable inverters
From expected to actual yield A chart from Expected through Outages, Derating, curtailment per source and Other to Actual, in MWh
Curtailment loss per source Per source the Loss, the Market value and the Hours. Labels: inferred and Claimable
Needs review Periods someone should look at, such as a stop without a known source. Only when there are any
Switch-offs When inverters were off or limited, with Start, End, Cause and Inverters
State per inverter A timeline with the Whole park row and the inverters that deviate. Show all inverters shows every one
Exclusions Periods that do not count, with Object, From, Until, Reason, Reference, By and Status
  • Choosing a switch-off highlights it in the timeline. Clear highlight undoes that.
  • An Admin or Operator sees Add exclusion and Withdraw.
  • You only see the Market value if you may see prices.
  • "No availability" means there are no computed quarter-hours yet.

Recompute

Admin only. Choose Last 30 days or Last 90 days and Recompute. Below it is the Last run with Queued, Running, Done or Failed.

Production forecast

Only when a forecast service delivers: Still expected today, Expected tomorrow and a table with Hour, Power and Irradiance.

Setpoint log

Every limit of the last seven days, newest at the top.

Column What it shows
Start When the limit began
End When it ended, or Ongoing
Source Who limited, such as Grid operator · emergency, TenneT, Congestion contract, Export limit or Negative price
Limit To how many kW or what percentage
Reason code The grid operator's code with its meaning, or Not forwarded
Origin How Alpha knows, such as Logger, Withthegrid Teleport or Grid-operator notice
Confidence Firm or Inferred
Applies to Park, one inverter or a number of inverters
Note The note with the limit
  • Search… searches the rows. Source: all and Origin: all filter.
  • An Admin or Operator sees Record grid-operator notice.
  • "No limits in the last seven days." means the log is empty.

Solar park or battery

The tab is there for a battery too. The availability here is computed per inverter, so on a battery the Availability and losses block shows "No availability". A battery's figures are in Battery figures.

Who sees what

Role What they see and do
Admin Everything, Recompute included
Operator Everything except Recompute
Viewer Reads everything, without prices and without buttons to record anything
Customer Reads everything for their own sites; prices and euros only if Show value in € is on for them

How to do it

  1. Open Assets, choose the site and choose the Curtailment tab. Open in Alpha
  2. Look in Curtailment per day for the days with curtailment. Choose a row to see that day in the chart.
  3. Did the grid operator call or e-mail? Choose Record grid-operator notice. Fill in Source, Reason code, Received by, Start, if needed End (if known), Limit in % or Limit in kW and Note, and choose Save notice.
  4. Was the limit lifted? Choose the open notice in the Setpoint log. In End notice, fill in the End and choose Save end.
  5. Want to submit a claim? In Grid operator claim dossiers, choose PDF or CSV next to the limit.
  6. Was the claim submitted or compensated? Choose Status, fill in Status, Date, Grid operator reference and, if needed, Amount (€), and choose Save.
  7. Should a period not count for the availability, such as planned maintenance? Choose Add exclusion in the Exclusions block.
  8. Did prices, the PR or a curtailment source change? An Admin chooses Recompute.
