What is on the Battery tab?

The Battery tab shows per day how each battery system of the site worked: power, state of charge, PCS, racks, alarms, availability and data quality. Below that, for the whole site, are the exclusions, the warranty, the capacity tests, the forecasts and the acceptance protocols.

Why it matters

Contractual availability and the warranty decide what the owner can claim. An exclusion or capacity test that is not recorded does not count. Without a field validation a battery report stays a draft.

What you see

The tab is there only for a site with a battery. Every role may open it, the customer too. Buttons that record, withdraw or calculate are shown to Admin and Operator only.

A table with rows has a download button at the top right (Export …) for CSV or Excel (.xlsx). A table without rows shows the empty text listed below.

At the top

Part What it shows or does
Fetching first data… Shown at the top while the site's first data is still coming in
Sample data (simulator) Notice when a system still shows sample data, with Waiting for the pilot site's EMS export
← Previous day, the day, Next day →, Today Picks the day of every card. Today goes back to today
No battery system Shown instead of all cards when the site has no battery system

Per battery system

These cards are there once per system, in this order.

No battery data with Waiting for EMS export is shown at the top when there is no data for this system yet.

The system card. The title is the name of the system. Below it are power, energy, cell chemistry and the number of containers, racks and PCS, such as "880 kW · 2.3 MWh · LFP · 8 containers · 8 racks · 8 PCS". When the system shows sample data, it carries the label Sample data.

Tile What it shows
State of charge The state of charge of the latest reading, with Charging, Discharging or Idle below it
Power The PCS power of the latest reading as "Discharging …" or "Charging …"; below 1 kW Idle. The time below it
Charged (day) The energy that went into the system that day, At the point of connection
Discharged (day) The energy that came out of the system that day, At the point of connection
Round-trip efficiency The efficiency of the day, measured on the AC side of the PCS, only on a day with a full cycle
Available discharge power The power the system could discharge at the latest reading, with "today" and the availability in time below it

Below the tiles is the day's chart with Power at connection (MW, + discharge), SoC (%) and Day-ahead price (EUR/MWh). Without readings it says No data.

PCS status: one row per PCS.

Column What it holds
PCS The name of the PCS
State Running, Standby, Derated, Fault or Unknown
Power The power now
Available / rated The power it can deliver now, next to its rated power
Derate Why it delivers less: Temperature, Grid or SoC limit
IGBT temperature The temperature of the power electronics
Racks The number of racks behind this PCS

Racks per container, with the subtitle Hottest cell · latest reading of the day. One row per container, one tile per rack with Rack and its number, the hottest cell in °C and "SoC … % · ΔV … mV". A rack without a connection gets "offline". The colour follows the hottest cell: a cool colour below 20 °C, neutral from 20 to 30 °C, and warmer from 30, 35 and 40 °C. Point at a rack for its PCS and the number of the hottest sensor. Choose a rack or container to open that part on its own.

Cell extremes per rack: Container, Rack, PCS, SoC, Highest cell (V), Lowest cell (V), ΔV (mV), Hottest cell and Coldest cell. The cell voltages are in mV; the number of the cell or sensor follows, such as "(#12)". Empty: No data.

Battery alarms (BMS/PCS): the alarms the BMS and the PCS raised themselves, with Alarm, Device, Status (Open or Closed), Raised, Cleared and Evidence. When an alarm has evidence, the button Files is there. Empty: No battery alarms.

Availability: six tiles, only when there is an availability for the day.

Tile What it shows
Availability (time) The share of time the PCS units were available, with the threshold
Availability (power) Availability weighted by power, with the hours not deliverable
Availability (contract) Availability without the time inside an exclusion, with the minutes excluded
Monitoring The share of the day readings came in
Last … days Availability in time over those days, with the one in power below it
Contract The percentage the contract asks

Availability per PCS: PCS, Available in percent and Unavailable in minutes. Empty: No availability for this day.

Data quality: the title gets the day's score and verdict, such as "Data quality · 87 of 100 · Uncertain". Per check Check, Measured, Limit, Parts and Status (Good, Watch or Bad). Empty: No verdict for this day.

Anomalies (shadow) · … judged: the racks and containers that differ from their peers, with Component, Quantity (Max. cell temperature, State of charge avg., Round trip (DC) or Max. C-rate), Value, Median, Z-score and Signal (Outlier or Drift). Empty: No anomalies.

Lifetime record, with the label Annex VII basis.

Part What it shows
Energy throughput (DC) Throughput since the first day, with the number of days; the boundary is in brackets
Energy throughput, 12 months Throughput of the last twelve months, with the start date
Equivalent full cycles Cycles since the first day, with the cycles on the selected day
Time above temperature limit The minutes the hottest cell was above the limit, 40 °C by default
Highest C-rate The highest C-rate when discharging, with the one when charging below it
Bar chart Charged (MWh) and Discharged (MWh) per day
Two charts Hours per SoC band (5 %) and Hours per °C hottest cell of the day
Two charts Charging per C-rate (hours), Discharging per C-rate (hours) and Cycles per cycle depth (% SoC), when that data is there

For the whole site

Add test and Import are there only when the site has parts to test. Start SAT or Start UAT is greyed out while a protocol of that kind is open.

A rack or container

When you choose a rack or container, it opens on a page of its own. At the top right you choose 24 hours or 7 days.

Part What it shows
Tiles SoC, Hottest cell, Coldest cell, Voltage spread and Last reading
SoC per rack The state of charge of each rack over the period
Cell temperature and voltage spread Hottest cell (°C) and Voltage spread (mV)

Racks Only for a container: per rack the SoC, the hottest cell and ΔV, as a link
Per day Day, Charged (kWh), Discharged (kWh), Round trip (%), Avg SoC (%) and Max cell temp (°C)

Without readings it says No battery data.

How to do it

  1. Open Assets, choose the site and the Battery tab. Open in Alpha
  2. Step through the days with ← Previous day and Next day →. Today takes you back.
  3. Click a rack or a container in Racks per container to see that part on its own.
  4. Does an alarm in Battery alarms (BMS/PCS) have evidence? Choose Files and download the readings around the alarm.
  5. Did a period not count for the contract? In Exclusions choose Add exclusion. Fill in System, Reason, From and Until, on the site's clock. Reference and Note are optional.
  6. Want the availability per day or the exclusions in a file? Choose Day log CSV or Exclusions CSV.
  7. Record a capacity test in Capacity tests with Add test, or read a CSV with Import. Fill in at least Part and Measured capacity (kWh). Upload the test report as a PDF with Upload report.
  8. Run the own SoH estimate again with Calculate in SoH estimate (indicative).
  9. In Field validation of report figures, use Record validation to record that the figures match the device's export.
  10. In Acceptance protocols choose Start SAT or Start UAT. Set each step to Passed, Failed or N/A and choose Sign with the name under Client witness.
