How does an alarm work?

An alarm opens when a value reaches threshold S1 and stays there for the whole delay. It closes when the value stays below S1 minus the hysteresis for the whole recovery time.

Why it matters

The priority of an alarm decides who gets notified and how fast someone has to respond. A P1 alarm runs on the SLA clock day and night. Knowing how delay and recovery time work explains why an alarm sometimes opens later or stays open.

How to do it

  1. Open Alarms, choose Faults and then the Current view for the open alarms. Open in Alpha
  2. Choose Incidents to see which alarms belong together. The First-out is the alarm that is the cause. Open in Alpha
  3. Open Settings and choose Notifications to set your own notifications. The table SLA per priority shows the Clock, Acknowledge within, Respond within and Notify after per priority. Open in Alpha
  4. Open Alarms, choose Alarm rules and then Settings on a rule to see or change thresholds, delay, cooldown, hysteresis and priority. Open in Alpha
  5. Evidence of a battery alarm: open the battery page of the site, go to Battery alarms (BMS/PCS) and choose Files in the Evidence column. Choose the site first. Open in Alpha
